Press release
On March 31, 2026, a workshop on financing Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) was held under the “Promotion of Renewable Energies and Energy Efficiency, Phase IV” Program (GAF-REEE Phase VII) financed by KfW, jointly organized by the German-Armenian Fund (GAF) and Fichtner. The event brought together more than 100 representatives of partner financial institutions, investors, EPC contractors, and other stakeholders involved in renewable energy projects in Armenia.
The workshop provided an update on the current status of the Program and introduced financing opportunities, application procedures, and requirements for photovoltaic (PV) and BESS technologies, supported through the technical assistance of Fichtner. Participants were also presented with the results of an operational survey analyzing real-world experiences from PV plant installations in Armenia.
The session featured contributions from key experts and stakeholders, covering program developments, regulatory frameworks, and technical, environmental, and financial requirements for BESS and PV projects. Presentations highlighted new investment opportunities under GAF-RE Phase VII, existing legislative gaps, and the increasing importance of BESS technologies in response to evolving market conditions.
The workshop concluded with an interactive Q&A session, allowing participants to engage directly with experts and discuss practical aspects of project implementation, further strengthening collaboration within Armenia’s renewable energy sector.”
